Folk Musical Nite - Saturday,

They Came, They Sang, They
Rocked !
A whiff of fresh air blew thru Atlanta on July 18th,
2009 at the Berkmar High School, when Telengana
Community organized it’s very first “Folk music
Nite”. Andesri, Gorati Venkanna, Suddala Ashok Teja,
the three unparalleled, top-notch folk and film song
writers/singer’s, captured more than 650 souls for
more then three hours and held them spell bound.
Immediately
after lighting ‘Jyothi’, G.S. Reddy,
Founder-President of Telangana Community welcomed
the gathering and said “What was started three years
ago as a small community forum, by ten families to
celebrate “Bathukamma” festival, has today evolved
into a 250-member strong organization engaged in
several community development projects .Telengana
Community is not affiliated with any political
organization. The focus of the organization is only
development projects”.
The star personality of Atlanta’s Indian American
Community, Narender Reddy, described the water
purifying projects already implemented and work in
progress. He also spoke about the vision of the
organization for the next few years. His spontaneous
humor brought cheers to the audience quite a few
times.
During the first 30 minutes of the program, the
audience were engaged by local talent; Venkat
Chenubotla, Laxmi Vedala, Sai Konkala, Vasavi
Konkala & Kirthana Chenubotla.
The core program was kick-started by Ashok Teja, who
walked the audience through a gamut of feelings
ranging from smiles, laughs and tears. Dr. Andesri
took the stage to set a different tone & temper and
rocked the auditorium. All his poems echoed a wide
range of emotions. Yet another dimension was added
to the program by the electrifying song and dance
performance of the multi-talented Goreti Venkanna,
for whom the audience was waiting eagerly. He was
ably supported by Amjad Bhai on Dholak and Tabla.
Shanthi Rudra and Vijay Bhandari, provided chorus
support to Venkanna.
Venkat Chenubotla and Laxmi Vedala were the MCs
while Prashant Kollipara and Surender Mutyala lent
their support by shooting Photos and Video of the
event.
Viju Chiluverus’s efforts, conception and event
management, were reflected in the success of the
event.
All the artistes were honored by Telengana
Community/ Organizers, G.S. Reddy, Narendar Reddy &
Ravi Chander. TAMA, TANA Foundation and Amma’s
Kitchen also honored the visiting artistes.
Sushumna Ravi Chander delivered the vote of thanks.

This record-breaking event is the result of the
active efforts of 10 committee member-volunteers,
who worked for exactly 10 days, for more then 10
hours a day - Dhara Singh, Mahesh Nilagiri,
Prabhakar Boyapally, Ranjith Ganta, Ratan Elugunti,
Ravi Chander, Sridhar Konkala, Srijan Joginapally,
Venkat Veeraneni & Viju Chiluveru.
The efforts of the organizers were supplemented by
another contingent of volunteers at the event
location - Aravind Katta, Anil Nilagiri, Chandra
Mohan Nellutla, Kaushik Koranti, Harish Pateri,
Rakesh Chandoori, Prabhakar Madupathi, Mallikarjun
Katta, Sunil Dronavalli, Srikanth Kolluri, Shiva &
Gowtham.
